Italian Heritage Recognizes Christian Heritage
July 12, 2012
On this day, Greg Owen was allowed to hand out gospel tracts on public ways in Buffalo, NY during the Italian Heritage Festival. This result is significant because Owen was forced to stop this same activity last year - in the same place during the same festival - under the threat of criminal arrest. To secure his constitutionally-protected freedom to speak, the Center for Religious Expression filed a federal lawsuit against Buffalo on Owen’s behalf. After reviewing the Memorandum of Law filed in the case, and seeing the proverbial writing on the wall, Buffalo acquiesced to Owen’s request, and agreed to a Consent Order allowing Owen to go back and share the gospel during this event.
