Bibles are Back at Pride Fest
June 23, 2012
By virtue of Order from the U.S Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, Brian Johnson was allowed to hand out free Bibles at the Pride Fest taking place in Loring Park in Minneapolis, MN today. The Minnesota Park & Recreation Board, placating to the biases of the organizers of the event, had prohibited all literature distribution in the park. So that Johnson could distribute Bibles at this year’s event and in the future, Center for Religious Expression filed an action before the federal district court sitting in Minneapolis. Though the district court denied Johnson’s request, the Eight Circuit granted Johnson emergency and temporary relief, paving the way for him to share the gospel through God’s word at this year’s Pride Fest. To obtain permanent relief for Johnson in the future, CRE is proceeding with the appeal before the Eighth Circuit.
